Bristol International Airport

The Airport takes all aspects of learning in the local community seriously. To this aim we were delighted to become involved with the ABLAZE project and have a very strong partnership with Hartcliffe Community Engineering College.

This work includes supporting educational and career activities, School Governorship and together we constantly look at ways a business and school can work together to improve learning. Other projects have included creative art work and student's work is displayed in the terminal and in public areas around the airport, with very positive comments received by customers.

We are now working on a new pilot project where students from the HECC will visit the airport and make healthy fruit smoothes and taste and sample some unusual fruits and understand the country of origin. This will be followed by an understanding of food and hygiene of a catering company at an airport where it provides food for approximately 18,000 customers per day! At the end of the visit the students will be involved in discussions around a job application form and what to do in an interview.
