Computershare

As part of Computershare's commitment to community projects we have teamed up with ABLAZE to provide mentoring to pupils at Bedminster Down School who are nearing their GCSE exams. The aim of the mentoring scheme is to help improve aspiration, attainment and achievement in our local schools.

Fourteen members of Computershare staff are currently volunteering as mentors. By completing profile questionnaires the mentors and pupils have been paired by the school, and initial contact has been through group sessions and a visit to Computershare's offices. As the programme progresses the focus is primarily on one-to-one mentoring between the pupil and their assigned mentor. During these sessions, the pupils choose what they want to discuss, which could be anything from homework and career choices to personal issues.

We believe this is an opportunity for Computershare to create a real impact within our community by working with children to raise their confidence and potential for the future.

Computershare has also provided Reading Buddies to Fairfurlong, St. Pius and Parson Street primary schools in South Bristol for over two years.Several employees spend an hour a week helping to increase pupils' literacy skills and build their confidence.
