United Bristol Healthcare Trust

The partnership with Whitefield Fishponds Community School was formed though ABLAZE. The aim being to define particular issues that need to be worked on and then gather/analyse data that allows the generation of informed improvement solutions and planning to implement and sustain these. To achieve this a small team from the school and UBHT took part in specific training programme for improvement methodology called six-sigma facilitated by ABLAZE and have been working together ever since.

Background

The Trust comprises of eight hospitals, employs just over 7,000 staff and spends £1,000,000 per day.

The Trust also works within the community with such initiatives as the Schools Liaison Programme (SLP). This includes working with local schools/colleges in providing work experience, curriculum linked activities, teacher development and careers advice and information relevant to the NHS.

The Trusts core business is:

  • To provide patient centred health services locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
  • To provide a positive environment for education, training and development of staff in order to ensure provision of effective patient services.
  • To provide and support research, development and effective clinical practice in order to improve patient services in the future
